Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why should I convert stereo audio to mono?
Many voice recordings, podcasts, and interviews accidentally record on only one channel (left or right ear). Downmixing to mono centers the sound so listeners hear the speech balanced in both headphones.
Q: Does downmixing to mono cause distortion?
Our algorithm sums both channels and applies equal gain compensation `(L + R) / 2` to guarantee zero clipping or harmonic distortion.
Q: Can I choose MP3 or WAV for the mono output?
The default output is high-grade 320 kbps MP3. If you need WAV, you can also use our Universal Audio Converter with the 1-channel mono option.
