How Audio Gain Boosting Works
When an audio track is recorded too quietly, simply turning up your speaker volume can amplify background hiss and noise floor. Our browser-based volume booster applies digital linear gain multiplication to the decoded PCM float sample stream, scaling signal amplitude while preserving stereo separation.
Preventing Audio Clipping & Distortion
If you push the gain too far, audio peaks can exceed 0 dBFS (decibels relative to full scale), resulting in harsh digital clipping. We recommend boosting by 120%–170% for music tracks, or up to 250% for quiet spoken voice recordings and phone lectures.
