Is there a program that can remove the iTunes DRM protection from protected M4P files? And is it possible to convert M4P to MP3? Does such a program exist? Have you been frustrated by these problems as well? If so, this tutorial will explain how to deal with DRM protection and convert M4P to MP3 easily.

What is a DRM Protected M4P?

DRM, or Digital Right Management, refers to technology implemented in music tracks/videos to stop users from copying the content or from converting it to another format. M4P is a file extension for a protected audio file encoded with advanced audio codec (AAC), used by the iTunes Music Store.

If you are not sure which music files are protected and which aren't, here'how you can tell on Windows:

1. Open iTunes (iTunes 12.5.5.5).

2. Select "Music" and select a song from the library.

3. Click on "View" > "Show View Options".

4. Select "File" from the pop-up window > click on "Kind".

5. Now you will have a column named "View" in each song. If it shows as "Protected AAC audio file" then the file is protected with DRM and can't be played on non-Apple devices. If it shows as "MPEG audio file" or "Purchased AAC Audio File" or anything else, then the file is not protected with DRM and can be paly on any device that supports the format freely.

How to Play Protected M4P on Non-Apple Devices?

When you buy songs from the iTunes Store, it downloads them to your computer in .m4p or .m4a format. You won't be able to play those songs anywhere else other than iOS devices because they have DRM protection built into the music files. If you are trying to use device like Android phone with your iTunes M4P music, you need to remove the DRM out of the file and then convert the M4P to MP3.

Apple Music Converter is an ultimate solution to remove DRM protection from M4P music as well as convert the M4P audio files into other formats compatible with the device or media player you use. Besides iTunes music and Apple Music tracks, it can also convert AA/AAX audiobooks to DRM-free MP3, FLAC, AC3, etc. It supports batch conversion and up to 16X faster conversion speed which enables you to get DRM-free music easily and quickly.

Once you've got the protected M4P in MP3 format, you can play them on non-Apple portable players like Xbox One, Zune, PSP, BlackBerry, Android, Creative Zen, etc. or import iTunes music to PPT presentation, iMovie project, etc.
